Our client is looking for a hands-on Technical Assistant to support the technical, warehouse and transport functions behind high-impact corporate events. You’ll help ensure that all technical requirements are met on each project, that equipment is correctly prepared and maintained, and that gear is safely transported to and from shows. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, practical work, takes pride in well-run events, and is confident driving heavy vehicles.

📌 Role Details

• 📍 Location: Midrand / Centurion

• 💰 Salary: R15 000 – R22 000 (depending on experience)

  • Monday – Friday: 08:00 – 17:00

  • Weekends & after-hours: As required, depending on events

💼 Key Responsibilities

🎛️ Event Technical Support

• Assist with technical set-up during projects (e.g. rigging, cabling, equipment placement and testing under supervision).

• Engage professionally with clients on site and support the technical team in delivering a world-class experience. 

• Identify, establish and log technical faults, and escalate issues where necessary. 

• Adhere to event schedules and call times to ensure setups and strikes are completed within allocated time frames. 

🏭 Warehouse & Equipment

• Prepare equipment in the warehouse for events (checking, cleaning, labelling and packing gear). 

• Participate in general warehouse activities when not on site (stocking, organising, basic checks).

• Load and offload equipment safely and efficiently. 

• Assist with basic equipment maintenance and report any faults or damage immediately. 
  

🚚 Driving & Logistics

• Ensure the safe, legal and efficient operation of heavy articulated vehicles for the transport of equipment, gear or passengers, including:

  • 8-ton trucks

  • Crafters and similar vehicles

  • Truck-and-trailer combinations

• Conduct basic pre-trip and post-trip inspections and comply with company and legal road-safety standards. 

⚙️ Health, Safety & Development

• Comply with all health and safety legislation, company policies and on-site safety protocols. 

• Attend technical training sessions as and when required. 

• Actively look for opportunities for self-development, especially in technical skills.

• Stay up to date with technical trends and developments in the events and AV industry. 

✅ Minimum Requirements

• National Senior Certificate (Grade 12). 

• Code 14 driver’s licence, with at least 1 year driving experience with heavy vehicles (e.g. 8-ton trucks, truck-and-trailer). 

• 2–5 years’ experience in the technical events industry (live events, AV, staging, production, etc.). 

• Basic technical skills in at least one discipline (e.g. audio, lighting, video, staging) and general knowledge of other disciplines.

• Basic computer skills (e.g. email, MS Office, basic system usage).

• Basic client-facing and communication skills – comfortable dealing with clients on site. 

• Strong team player with a collaborative attitude. 

• Punctual and reliable, with good time management and respect for schedules. 

• Physically able to handle loading, offloading and movement of equipment. 

• Trustworthy, responsible and safety-conscious.

• Willingness to work after-hours and weekends when events require it.

💼 Hoof Verantwoordelikhede

🎛️ Tegniese Ondersteuning op Events

• Help met tegniese opstellings tydens projekte (bv. rigging, kabels, plasing en toets van toerusting onder toesig).

• Skakel professioneel met kliënte op die terrein en ondersteun die tegniese span om ’n wêreldklas ervaring te lewer. 

• Identifiseer, vasstel en log tegniese foute, en eskaleer probleme waar nodig. 

• Hou streng by skedules en call times om te verseker op- en afbou word binne die toegewese tyd voltooi. 

🏭 Pakhuis & Toerusting

• Berei toerusting in die pakhuis voor vir geleenthede (kontrole, skoonmaak, merk en verpakking van toerusting). 

• Neem deel aan algemene pakhuisaktiwiteite wanneer jy nie op ’n terrein is nie (pak, organiseer, basiese kontroles).

• Laai en aflaai toerusting veilig en doeltreffend. 

• Help met basiese instandhouding van toerusting en rapporteer enige skade of foute onmiddellik. 🔧

🚚 Bestuur & Logistiek

• Verseker die veilige, regmatige en doeltreffende bestuur van swaar gesleepte voertuie vir die vervoer van toerusting, toerustingkaste of passasiers, insluitend:

  • 8-ton vragmotors

  • Crafter-tipe voertuie

  • Vragmotor-en-sleepwa kombinasies

• Voer basiese voor- en ná-ritinspeksies uit en voldoen aan maatskappy- en wetlike padveiligheidsvereistes. 

⚙️ Gesondheid, Veiligheid & Ontwikkeling

• Voldoen aan alle gesondheids- en veiligheidswetgewing, maatskappybeleide en veiligheidprotokolle op terrein. 

• Woon tegniese opleiding by soos vereis. 

• Soek aktief na geleenthede vir selfontwikkeling, veral in tegniese vaardighede.

• Bly op datum met tegniese tendense en ontwikkelinge in die events- en AV-industrie. 

✅ Minimum Vereistes

• Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat (Graad 12). 

• Kode 14-bestuurslisensie, met minstens 1 jaar se bestuursondervinding met swaar voertuie (bv. 8-ton vragmotors, vragmotor-en-sleepwa). 

• 2–5 jaar ondervinding in die tegniese events-industrie (live events, AV, staging, produksie, ens.). 

• Basiese tegniese vaardighede in ten minste een dissipline (bv. klank, lig, video, verhoog) en algemene kennis van ander dissiplines.

• Basiese rekenaarvaardighede (bv. e-pos, MS Office, basiese stelselgebruik).

• Basiese kliëntgerigte en kommunikasievaardighede – gemaklik om met kliënte op terrein te skakel. 

• Sterk span speler met ’n samewerkende ingesteldheid. 

• Punktueel en betroubaar, met goeie tydsbestuur en respek vir skedules. 

• Fisies in staat om toerusting te laai, aflaai en rond te skuif. 

• Betroubaar, eerlik en veiligheid-bewus.

• Bereid om na-ure en naweke te werk wanneer events dit vereis.
