Role Purpose

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing all logistical operations, assets, personnel, and policies within the organisation. This role manages the transport fleet, logistics staff, and third-party service providers to ensure the efficient and reliable movement of goods and materials. The successful candidate will drive operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement across logistics functions, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the transport department, including scheduling 120+ weekly deliveries and collections (feed, fuel, finished goods, and general cargo).
• Manage both company-owned trucks and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective operations.
• Supervise unloading operations and coordinate with planners to execute feed unloading schedules efficiently.
• Monitor GPS tracking systems and work with suppliers to identify and resolve issues related to vehicle use, routing, and fuel management.
• Recruit, train, motivate, and manage logistics personnel, including drivers and unloading teams, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Implement and maintain vehicle and equipment audit checklists; coordinate with workshop management on repair and maintenance schedules.
• Review fleet capacity and specifications to match transport demand, and liaise with suppliers to procure new assets and equipment when required.
• Develop and implement logistics policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance, efficiency, and safety.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategic logistics and transport plans.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager.
