Product Owner: Credit Platform – (Mid, 2+ years’ experience)

We’re looking for a curious and dynamic Product Owner to help us shape one of IDM’s newest credit platforms – built in partnership with a leading South African insurance brand. This client-facing web platform helps people make smarter money choices and build financial confidence.

You’ll connect the dots between customer insights, data, and technology to turn ideas into real, measurable value for both the users and our partners.

Intelligent Debt Management (IDM) is a South African leader in personal financial wellness. The group includes South Africa's largest debt counsellor, DebtBusters; a renowned financial advice brand, JustMoney; a major credit bureau reseller, Kudough; and a successful joint venture with Sanlam, Sanlam Credit Solutions.

Since 2018, we’ve harnessed data, design and technology to build and optimize credit platforms. Our efforts have resulted in over 2.5 million active users, delivering significant value for both users and our business partners. Now, we’re expanding to our next credit platform and we want you to help us build it.

What you’ll do

As a Platform Product Owner, you will:

• Shape the product vision and roadmap in partnership with business and technical teams.
• Turn strategy into action by defining clear user stories, backlog items, and success metrics.
• Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and analysts to deliver impactful features.
• Facilitate agile ceremonies and ensure smooth, transparent communication across the team.
• Prioritise what matters most — balancing customer needs, data insights, and business goals.
• Use experimentation and analytics to test assumptions, validate value, and improve performance.
• Be the voice of the customer, ensuring our platform delivers intuitive, empowering experiences.
• Act as the product ambassador, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged at every stage.

What you’ll bring

• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, mathematics, science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in product management, product ownership, or software development.
• The ability to make decisions using data and to experiment
• Strong communication and facilitation skills — you’re comfortable leading discussions and building alignment.
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and backlog management.
• A knack for understanding customer journeys and improving user experience.
• A self-starter mindset — you can manage your own work while keeping the bigger picture in focus.

Bonus points for

• Exposure to the financial services industry and financial data.
• Strong foundation of coding or data analysis.
• Experience facilitating stakeholder workshops or cross-functional planning sessions.
• Figma skills
