My client in the retail independent pharmacy industry is looking for a reliable and physically capable individual to support daily operational tasks across various departments, including consumables management, cash handling, stock control, and receiving.
The ideal candidate should be hands-on, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities shall include the following, but not to be treated as an exhaustive list:
- Consumables management: Monitor and replenish consumable supplies to ensure operational efficiency in the relevant pharmacies.
- Cash handling: Perform daily cash-ups with accuracy and attention to detail, following Company procedures.
- Stock control:
- Assist with regular stock takes, inventory checks, and reporting discrepancies.
- Ensuring shelves are consistently stocked and FIFO (First in First Out) – Expiry Date Checks on Products.
- Physical tasks: Safely lift and move heavy items as required, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Receiving support: Assist in the Receiving department with unloading deliveries, checking goods against invoices, and organizing stock.
- Display and presentation:
o Visual merchandising: Designing compelling product displays that attract and retain customer attention.
o Seasonal promotions: Implementing creative promotional displays to coincide with holidays and special events.
o Store layout optimization: Arranging the store layout strategically to guide customer flow and highlight key products.
- Ad hoc:
o Assisting occasionally on the POS system, where and when necessary.
o Opening of the front store doors and closing of front store doors.
Required Skills
- Stock Controller: 2 to 3 years
- Consumables: 2 to 3 years
- Cash Handling Skills: 2 to 3 years
Candidate Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely.
- Basic numeracy and attention to detail for cash handling and stock counting.
- Good organizational skills and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Grade 12 qualification is a must.
- Own reliable transport.
- Clear criminal and credit records.
- Ideally have 3+ years’ experience working in a retail pharmacy environment.
- Must have strong customer relationship management ability.
- Must have Integrity.
- Good language skills; fluent in English and at least one other official language.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Remain attentive in an often-busy environment.
- Be proactive, reliable, responsible, and accurate with an attention to detail.
- Must be an effective team player.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good time management skills.
- A professional appearance.
- Adaptability and have a positive attitude.
