We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and governance of our client’s enterprise data infrastructure, transitioning from an SSIS-based ETL environment to a modern, scalable Azure cloud data warehouse. This strategic role involves close collaboration with business leaders, BI developers, analysts, and IT teams to deliver governed, business-aligned, and analytics-ready data solutions.

Duties:

·        Lead the architectural design and implementation of the new Azure-based data warehouse.

·        Oversee optimisation of the current SSIS ETL environment during the transition.

·        Establish long-term data platform strategy and champion best practices across the organisation.

·        Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, security, lineage, and access control.

·        Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into actionable technical solutions.

·        Lead the build, testing, and deployment of robust ETL/ELT pipelines for multi-source integration.

·        Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, driving adoption of technical standards and best practices.

·        Monitor platform performance and drive continuous improvement in architecture, tooling, and processes.

Skills:

·        Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).

·        5+ years’ experience in data engineering and data warehouse design.

·        Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and Azure Data Platform (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage).

·        Expertise in SQL (T-SQL preferred), data modelling (Kimball/Star Schema/Snowflake), and ETL/ELT workflows.

·        Experience implementing data governance frameworks and compliance standards.

·        Preferred: Python or other scripting, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, Power BI integration, Azure Purview or other cataloguing tools.
