A prominent manufacturing company in the packaging sector is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their team in the Blackheath, Cape Town. This is a prime opportunity for a meticulous finance professional to manage critical financial transactions, ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/IFRS for SMEs), and support monthly and yearly financial close activities. The successful candidate will ideally possess a Professional Accounting qualification (CA or CPA), be proficient in accounting software and advanced Excel, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Responsibilities:

• Managing key financial transactions, which includes overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the comprehensive processing of general ledger entries.
• Conducting monthly and annual procedures for closing the financial books and performing necessary account reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate, up-to-date financial records and ensuring all processes strictly adhere to relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Reviewing and approving supplier reconciliations and associated payment releases.
• Processing international/forex payments through the main bank account.
• Contributing to the creation and implementation of effective financial policies and operational procedures.
• Providing assistance with internal and external audits and various financial assessments as required.
• Preparing and submitting mandatory governmental and regulatory financial returns (e.g., for VAT and employee tax).
• Creating and maintaining detailed spreadsheets and databases to accurately record, monitor, and compile financial information.
• Performing overall administrative tasks essential to the function of the position.
• Ensuring all tasks and deliverables are completed accurately and submitted by management-defined deadlines.
• Supporting the management of the company's cash flow.

Requirements:

• Professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA).
• 3+ years working experience as a Financial Accountant.
• MS Office Suite (Advanced level in Excel – Pivots, vlookups, xlookups etc).
• Knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems (Syspro is preferred).
• Experience with both IFRS and IFRS for SMEs will be advantageous.
