Role Overview:

The Estimator is responsible for preparing and managing the full tendering process across a range of building and civil engineering projects. This includes detailed bid preparation, risk analysis, pricing, and post-tender handovers. The role supports strategic decision-making through accurate costing and commercial assessments, ensuring bids are competitive and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct key risk analyses and Go/No-Go assessments to support bid decisions.

• Prepare tender documentation, including Preliminaries and General Costing.

• Manage tender pricing with completeness and alignment to client specifications.

• Attend site visits, client briefings, and prepare related reports.

• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.

• Ensure all required documentation and returnables are submitted on time.

• Conduct contractual and commercial reviews, identifying project risks.

• Maintain and update pricing databases and tender software.

• Present bids to senior management for approval.

• Lead handover processes to site teams post-award.

• Liaise with internal teams, consultants, and clients to ensure bid integrity.

• Monitor industry pricing trends and apply escalation where necessary.

• Conduct cash flow forecasting and compile KPI-based reporting.

Operational Skills:

• Proficient in CCS Candy and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word essential).

• Able to extract and analyse materials and subcontract packages from BOQ/drawings.

• Skilled in rate build-ups for direct works (e.g., concrete, formwork, plaster).

• Competent in quantity take-offs and preparing method/logistics statements.

• Strong communication and presentation abilities, especially under tight deadlines.

• Experienced in using bills of quantities, cost escalation analysis, and logistics planning.

Job Knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of Building and Civil Engineering practices.

• Familiarity with contracts (JBCC, FIDIC, NEC3) and standard measurement methods.

• Knowledge of construction documentation, including architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

• Strong awareness of SHEQ requirements and practical costing implications.

• Experience with construction site conditions and community-related project costs.
