LA Sport Pretoria is looking for an experienced Workshop Technician who can also take the lead as Senior Workshop Technician — someone who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty while managing a team.
 
About the Role:
 
This is a dual role ideal for a technical fitter with management skills.
You’ll be responsible for performing mechanical fitments and custom 4x4 upgrades while also leading the workshop team to ensure smooth operations, quality control, and timely project delivery.
You’ll work on a wide range of vehicles and products, from suspension and snorkels to full custom builds and overland conversions.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical fitments and install 4x4 accessories and gear
  • Handle repairs, upgrades, and diagnostic troubleshooting
  • Lead and manage the workshop team, job cards, and schedules
  • Ensure high-quality workmanship and time-efficient delivery
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and organized workshop
  • Guide and train junior staff members
  • Oversee stock control and ensure tools/equipment are used correctly
  • Be involved in hands-on work and lead by example

Required Skills

  • 4X4 Accessories Fitment: 3 to 4 years
  • Vehicle Wiring / Auto Electrical Systems: 3 to 4 years
  • Custom Fabrication & Welding: 1 to 2 years
  • Mechanical Diagnostics & Repairs: 1 to 2 years
  • Overland Vehicle Conversions: 1 to 2 years
  • Solar & Power System Installation (12V/24V): 1 to 2 years

Candidate Requirements

 
Requirements: 
  • Must be a qualified technical fitter with strong mechanical background
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in a 4x4/mechanical workshop environment
  • Proven management or team leadership experience
  • Experience in 4x4 fitments, wiring, and accessories is a major advantage
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and meet tight deadlines
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
  • Able to read technical diagrams and follow instructions
  • Able to do automotive wiring
  • Passionate about the 4x4 lifestyle and off-road industry
  • Reliable, hardworking, and committed to high standards
