Junior AI Engineer – E-commerce & Systems Automation
Are you a curious coder with a builder’s mindset and a passion for AI and automation? We’re looking for a Junior AI Engineer to help us bring real automation, AI tools, and smart thinking into our growing group of businesses — from e-commerce and retail to manufacturing and construction.
This is a full-time role based in Malmesbury & Bellville, working closely with the CEO and Managers to streamline operations, boost product growth, and help turn new business ideas into working MVPs.
What You’ll Do
- Build and deploy AI-powered tools to automate workflows and save time.
- Work with APIs, backend systems, and low-code tools to improve processes.
- Create dashboards, websites, or tools to support internal and customer-facing projects.
- Drive AI adoption across the team — train, support, and build systems that stick.
- Use AI to optimise and scale our e-commerce platforms — from smarter product listings and SEO automation to inventory forecasting and improving conversion.
- Bring trend insights and forecasts to the CEO to shape new ventures.
- Stay on top of AI trends, tools, and best practices—and report actionable insights to leadership.
Candidate Requirements
What You’ll Need
- Proven ability to build smart, working solutions using AI, automation tools, or code — whether self-taught or formally trained.
- Comfortable with Python, JavaScript, SQL, or low-code platforms, and working with APIs, backend systems, and tools like GPT APIs, or Claude.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain tech solutions clearly to non-technical teams.
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English, both written and spoken.
- Own transport and willingness to work between our Bellville and Malmesbury offices.
- A strong problem-solving mindset, with the initiative to take ownership and deliver results.
- A passion for AI, emerging trends, and smart business thinking.
- A proactive attitude and a love for solving real-world problems.
Bonus Points For
- Experience in e-commerce or digital product operations.
- A portfolio or examples of tools, automations, or websites you’ve built.
- Basic design or UX/UI sensibility, and confidence working with WordPress or HTML/CSS.
- A strong interest in future technologies, deep tech, and the evolving role of AI in business.
