A dynamic and growing electrical automation company is looking for an experienced PLC Projects Technician with strong technical knowledge of PLC systems, servo drives, and industrial automation projects to join their team in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will have experience in handling complete project lifecycles — from client enquiry and quoting, to design, programming, installation, and commissioning of PLC solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and respond to incoming enquiries for PLC upgrades, retrofits, or new installations

• Prepare detailed quotes, including parts, specifications, labour, and cycle analysis

• Define project scope, exclusions, and expected benefits for client approval

• Install and commission PLC-based automation systems

• Review schematic drawings prior to panel construction or manufacturing

• Design functional and streamlined PLC programs and corresponding HMI interfaces

• Understand and apply principles of drives, servo motors, and automation systems

• Create timing plans (if costed) and manage project timelines accordingly

• Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up-to-date

• Create electrical drawings independently

• Escalate supplier delays when necessary

• Keep clients informed of project progress and promptly communicate any changes

Requirements:

• Strong working knowledge of Siemens S7

• Experience with closed-loop servo VSD systems

• Proficiency in CAD or equivalent design software

• Eplan experience (advantageous)

• Relevant tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or automation

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in PLC programming and industrial automation

• Proven track record in managing projects from specification to commissioning
