JOB OBJECTIVE
To manage the quality control function in the company ensuring all incoming raw materials and outgoing products are meeting with the quality requirements of the company:
Inspect all raw materials and apply the required tests and verify against QAL
Check that all relevant quality procedures and processes are followed that will impact on the quality of the product.
Apply all test during the process and record it on required documentation
Check that production staff do the required inspections/test for quality and check if QAL is achieved
Check that agreed quality objectives and criteria are met where relevant by the team.
Organizing and monitoring work flow in the QC Lab.
AUTHORITY
To raise NCR where relevant.
To use the correct inspection and test equipment
To arrange for calibration of inspection and test equipment and scales when relevant.
To take and implement decisions that will improve the quality and production.
To continually assist and train the production staff to improve quality processes
To control the integrity of the silos and grain dams
KEY ACTIVITIES
Check if all test equipment is in order and prepared for testing/inspection process
Monitoring the quality inspections of the Production Supervisors and their delegates
Ensure that the inspection and test results are documented correctly
Continuously check if the required QAL is achieved
Ensure that the production staff adheres to the timelines of inspection and testing.
Ensure that representative samples are taken from the batch and send to accredited Lab for testing.
Follow up on quality problems and implement corrective action immediately.
Assist in implementing Internal Audits where relevant and planned
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA 2: COST CONTROL - SAVE TIME AND QUALITY COSTS
KEY ACTIVITIES
Check inspection and test equipment to prevent any breakages or non conformances
Sort out inspection and test equipment breakdowns
Record inspection results on the relevant quality documentation
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA 3: MANAGE QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
KEY ACTIVITIES
Ensuring that the processes needed for quality management are followed and maintained by team.
Ensuring the promotion and awareness of customer requirements
Prepare team, equipment and material for production schedule
Control and improve the quality on the line
Ensure that the required product quality testing as per QMS are done as required
Identify quality problems and sort it out
Identify possible improvements continuously with the team
Involve team in quality control improvements
Implement immediate corrective action if non -conformance is identified i.e. process, product or staff.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREA 4: HOUSEKEEPING AND SAFETY
Set safety standards for the different quality processes.
Monitor safe procedures and work methods.
Required Skills
- Grain: 2 to 3 years
Candidate Requirements
Grade 12
Introduction to grain handling and grain grading
Grading certificates for maize, sunflower, sorghum, wheat
Fumigation - Bulk Fumigation / Experience in Fumigation Experience in Grain Industry at least 3 - 4 years
