A dynamic and forward-thinking shipping company is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Junior Finance Assistant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will be pivotal in managing the company's debtors and creditors, ensuring accurate financial records and efficient financial operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
2 to 4 years of experience in a similar role within the industry
Strong understanding of the Shipping Operations Cycle
Familiarity with various cost components in the Ships Agency shipping operations cycle
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a particular emphasis on Excel
Excellent mathematical skills
Strong analytical abilities
Outstanding communication skills
Organised and methodical work approach
Ability to thrive under pressure
Keen attention to detail
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting practices
Duties and Responsibilities:
Address and resolve queries with service providers and clients
Manage allocated VAT and PAYE tasks
Conduct daily banking activities, including bank reconciliations
Reconcile debtors' and creditors' books and Statements of Accounts
Coordinate with banks to investigate and resolve reconciling items
Ensure accurate monthly processing of key account entries
Calculate staff loans, insurance, and prepaid expenses
Enter relevant financial data into in-house Accounting Software
Maintain and update the asset register
Verify vendor invoices against tariffs and the shipping operations cycle
