A Travel Retail Software company is looking for a dedicated Junior Financial Controller with International exposure and strong knowledge of Financial Accounting practices. The company is a key player in the travel retail sector, specializing in retail food & beverages, duty-free products, and technologies, catering to B2B and B2C customers globally
Minimum Requirements:
Matric with Mathematics and Accounting on Higher Grade
NQF5 in Accounting or Accounting Qualification
Minimum 2 years of practical experience in a similar role with international exposure
Strong knowledge of financial accounting practices, bookkeeping principles, and tax regulations (VAT, Customs Duties, Income Tax, Withholding Taxes)
Demonstrated ability to learn these in other jurisdictions
Proficiency in Excel, Accpac, and other accounting packages
Good computer systems capabilities
Ability to assimilate new information and understand business issues in foreign countries
Good business communication skills, especially with foreign nationals
Sound knowledge of business processes
Duties and Responsibilities:
Effective administration of companies, divisions, and branches in all jurisdictions
Management of rental agreements, operating expenses, and other commitments
Day end/day opening procedures in Accpac and FRS
Review and reporting on all company costs
Maintenance of effective, reliable, and efficient accounting systems and controls
Monthly reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
Review of inventory costing and loading into Accpac
Constant review of transactions for correct posting
Review and processing of integration batches
Maintenance of account codes, cost centers, and segments
Processing of cash book entries and fixed asset register maintenance
Evaluation and processing of standing journals and goods in transit reconciliation
Completion of VAT, tax, and royalty returns
Monthly reconciliations of all accounts
Reconciliation of sub-ledgers balances to the general ledger
Preparation and processing of journals
Revaluation of accounts payable, receivable, and cash book sub-ledgers
Application of financial accounting standards
Compliance with Companies Act requirements and tax legislation
Preparation and submission of tax returns
Full preparation for annual audit
Review of control environment for effective internal audit planning
Preparation of weekly and monthly reports for senior management
Daily review of sales reports and controls
Preparation of various reports and KPI analysis
Meeting statutory obligations and providing departments with necessary information
Performing ad hoc duties as requested
Participation in budget preparation process and support for other departments
