Company based in Centurion has a vacancy for an IT Systems Administrator with at least 5 years of Systems Admin work experience and strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux); networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP); virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Department: Managed Services and Software Support Department.

Responsibilities:
System maintenance and monitoring:
Perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of servers, networks, and other IT systems.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions to operations.
Infrastructure Management:
Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software components, including servers, switches, routers, and firewalls.
Manage virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V to optimize server resources and improve scalability.
Security Implementation:
Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's systems and data from unauthorized access, viruses, and other security threats.
Conduct regular security audits and apply patches and updates to address vulnerabilities.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
Develop and implement backup strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of critical data.
Create and test disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss and recovery time in the event of system failures or disasters.
User Support and Training:
Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and assisting with system configurations.
Develop and deliver training materials to educate users on IT best practices and procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, and compliance with IT policies and regulations.
Candidate Requirements
Requirements:
Relevant degree/diploma/certifications.
Minimum 5 years of IT-related support experience in a mid-senior level position.
Excellent knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (desktop and server editions), on-prem and cloud-based.
A firm grasp of IT infrastructure and operations best practices.
Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network, and systems administration, databases & data storage systems, and VoIP systems.
Good knowledge of Linux system administration and accompanying services like Apache and MySQL.
Strong knowledge of operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Familiarity with security concepts and best practices, including firewalls, encryption, and access controls.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience and knowledge advantageous:
Access management solution expertise.
Mobile application support on Android and iOS.
Access control systems and services.
Alarm monitoring systems and services.
