KAMOA COPPER SA is looking for Superintendent III, Safety
The Kamoa Copper Mine, is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometers west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

To enforce safety in Smelter engineering/processing/smelting/acid production operations and audit compliance in accordance with Kamoa Copper HSE Management Plan. This role is accountable for identifying leading indictors and devising and guiding the implementation of a mitigation plan. The successful candidate manages Superintendents and Specialized Officers. The scope of this role spans all areas of operations, including backfill plants, surfaced and process plant engineering, logistical operations and the concentrator.
You will have the following:
- National Diploma in any of the SHE disciplines or equivalent (SHEQ/ Risk Management) or Engineering or Smelting Processing
- Fluency in French, Swahili and English (or at least two of the three) highly advantageous
- 12 years relevant experience within a Smelter production/engineering/processing/acid production safety environment, with 5 years at managerial/supervisory level.
You will have advanced skills and knowledge in:
- In-depth working knowledge of all relevant Safety legislation
- A in-depth understanding of Smelter (Engineering/Processing/Smelting/ Acid Production), engineering and process operations
- Knowledge of work-related hazards and associated risk
- Understanding of human behaviour and the impact of cultural difference on human behaviour
Technical Skills should include:

- Function as a subject matter expert on SHE
- Drive effective problem-solving and continuous improvement
