Employer: Douglasdale Dairy (Pty) Ltd
Key Result Areas:
1. Planning and scheduling: Manage the full operation of the workshop including work schedules, staff management and upskilling, servicing of vehicles, maintenance of vehicles etc.
2. Fleet Management: Manage the entire fleet which is comprised of 200 vehicles on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
3. Vehicle road worthy’s and licences: Ensure vehicles to be sent for roadworthy prior to being licensed. Licences to be renewed within 21 days of licence expiry date. Monitor and ensure all fines are paid and up to date with drivers signing AOD’s if required.
4. Stock monitoring: Ensure all relevant parts for vehicle maintenance are available as and when required and ensure communication with storeman is clear and relevant parts available when required. Ensure accurate stock adjustments are entered into onto company system. Accurate month-end stock takes to be done for all parts including diesel.
5. Parts procurement: Manage the procurement process for all parts of company vehicles.
6. Workshop and Vehicle Maintenance:
6.1. All delivery trucks are to be serviced within regular and prescribed intervals.
6.2. Ensure workshop accreditation with MBSA – FUSO is renewed as and when required.
6.3. Down time for a truck/delivery vehicles service is 2 days maximum
6.4. Liaise with various depot/ branch managers around servicing schedule.
6.5. Rotation of fleet to Depots as required.
6.6. Conduct regular inspections for any vehicle damage through consultation of daily driver checklists
6.7. Ensure services are being signed off by the allocated/responsible mechanic with job cards issued.
6.8. Ensure that all vehicles have been road tested prior to release from the workshop.
7. Contract Management: Ensure providers/ contractors are providing timeous feedback on all repairs i.e. fridge etc. Ensure all diesel is ordered timeously for all relevant sites and ensure at least 3 days of supply is available at all times.
8. Damages and insurance Claims: Assess damages to vehicles. Driver acknowledgements of debt to be signed and sent through to finance department. Collect all documentation required for insurance claims as required by the insurance company.
Candidate Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering degree/diploma (highly advantageous)
- Qualified Artisan
- Qualified Diesel Mechanic
- Auto Electrician (advantageous)
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in workshop management or a similar role preferably within the automotive, transport, or manufacturing sectors with a strong background in trucks such as Mercedes, Fuso, UD.
- Literacy - read and write English.
- Computer Literate
- Ability to handle high pressure.
