- Analyses and modifies new and existing chemical engineering technologies and applies them in the testing and implementation of chemical engineering projects.
- Analyzing the client's situation and presenting alternative approaches to resolving problems
- Arranging and controlling receipt and dispatch of goods/assets and keeping relevant records
- Assisting clients to identify options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance
- Assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of chemical programs by monitoring and reporting on clients' progress
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets, monitoring of expenditures, drafting of contracts and purchasing or acquisition orders
- Chemical engineering technicians perform technical tasks to aid in chemical engineering research.
- Chemical engineers conduct study and develop, advise on and direct commercial-scale chemical processes and production of various substances and items such as cooling water management.
- The direct maintenance and repair of chemical plant and equipment and study and advise on chemical aspects of particular materials, products or processes.
- Chemical processing plant controllers operate and monitor chemical plants and adjust and maintain, processing units and equipment which distil, filter, separate, heat or refine chemicals.
- Controlling and distribution of information
- Controlling and participating in the operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical.
- Controlling process start-up and shut-down
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements, planning and directing daily operations
- Monitor and control environmental factors that can potentially affect human health, to ensure safe and healthy working conditions, and to prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical and biological agents or ergonomic factors.
- Identifies, removes, stores or disposes of chemical waste.
- Maintains and updates organisational skills development plans, reports, programmes and projects.
- Monitor and control water abstraction in the catchment area. Assist with water registration, validation and issuing of water licenses.
- Monitoring the performance of pumps detecting malfunctions and taking corrective action
- Monitors customer service levels and schedules adherence at agreed intervals, escalates deviations to the relevant stakeholders and assists with implementing scheduled revisions.
- Monitors stock levels and maintains stock, order and inventory records.
- Organizing maintenance and repairs
- Performs laboratory and onsite tests on organic and inorganic chemicals, analyses test data and carries out technical functions in support of chemists or chemical engineers and technologists in water treatment department.
- Planning and directing daily operations
- Preparing or assisting in the preparation of production operation schedules on the basis of customers' orders and production capacity and performance
- Purchasing or controlling the purchase of supplies of chemicals.
- Resolving work-related problems and preparing and submitting progress and other reports
- Responds to personal, written and telephone inquiries and complaints about the organisation's goods and services, provides information and refers people to other sources.
Candidate Requirements
- Diploma/ Degree in Chemical Engineering or Analytical Chemistry
- 5 years’ or more exposure within the Engineering and Manufacturing
- Experience in Power Plant water treatment
- Fully Computer Literate
- Valid Driver’s license
