An international Company with offices based in Centurion is looking for a Head of Information Technology that will be reporting directly to the CEO of the company.

Direct Reports: Development, Support, BI, Architecture, Automation.
The Head of IT will be a high-performing, professionally qualified, and technically astute individual who is intrinsically motivated and not afraid to get their hands dirty. The ideal candidate will lead the company’s IT function across all aspects delivering its development and product strategy, and continuously improving on all plans, systems, practices, and procedures across 13 African countries. The candidate will be able to drive out technology decisions with non-tech colleagues and bridge the gap between operational set-up and high-level stakeholder engagement. This individual should be collaborative, dynamic, technically sound, commercially savvy, and a thought partner to the CEO.
To be the ultimate technology partner to the CEO. The candidate will ensure that the IT function of the company is managed efficiently and properly, in accordance with the highest standards of good practice across 13 African countries in which the company operates.
This is a hybrid position with medical aid, provident fund, SDL, UIF, annual performance-based bonus, etc.
Responsibilities:
Provide the overall strategy, vision, and direction for the development of the company's internal bespoke platform, by continuously simplifying and automating IT processes and IS infrastructure to improve customer journey experiences and services both internally and externally.
IT, Software and Hardware Development
Responsible for leading the IT systems in the company including the planning, engineering, implementation, deployment, maintenance and field operations of the IT solutions
Deliver on Digital Transformation and Digital Technology initiatives across the organisation
Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
Develop, manage and track the IT Team annual operating and capital budget
Define and deliver IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes in order to maintain the company’s effectiveness and efficiency
Monitor, manage and ensure utilisation, care and uptime of all software and hardware, including cost effective utilisation of cloud infrastructure
Ensure safety, back-up, accuracy and reliability of all company data (including emails and cloud productivity tools such as G Suite) and reporting as required by applicable company policies
Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software
Manage and implement risk management, audit systems, strategies, and procedures
Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices
Product Management
Develop, design, prioritize and speed up all software and hardware development according to return on investment and direction from the CEO or business as required for both new and existing products and services/integration, including:
Upgrading of legacy systems architecture, software, coding, back-end, and front-end (website and mobile app) to be user-friendly and highly rated/recommended by most customers as is possible
BI Systems and ETL processes
Provide specialist strategic insights on the user experience, system unification, security, customer centricity, journeys, and behaviors
Approve, prioritise, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems
Analyse business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organisation to develop solutions for IT needs, including opportunities tangentially related to the current business focus
Integrations
Devising and reporting on integration development plans and strategies and coordinating activities within the team to ensure that integration projects are completed in line with best practices in the integration process
Overseeing and advising on asynchronous messaging architectures, rule-based systems, and network architectures and formulating strategies and designing architectures for systems integrations
Analysing and improving current system integrations and migration strategies, whilst maintaining the integrity and smooth functioning of the company's integration architecture
Innovation
Retaining a competitive edge by aggressively and consciously look for innovation opportunity and first to market
Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to enhance innovative thinking around the company and expanding on the organisation's long-term innovative capabilities
Advising management on yearly, medium-term, long-term, and future innovation goals and presenting new ideas and approaches to high-level stakeholders.
Stakeholder management
Act as ambassador on behalf of the Company, creating opportunities to enhance the company’s external profile and reputation amongst key audiences and pursue strategic alliances in line with corporate and business plan objectives
Liaise with professional advisors as appropriate, ensuring compliance with statutory bodies’ requirements, and be responsible for any issues arising
Maintain and build key relationships with technology and commercial partners and key suppliers
Leadership and Team Management
Lead and develop the IT team by providing coaching and training, clear objective setting, and regular feedback in line with Company policies and procedures to drive strong engagement and delivery
Responsible for the sharing and transfer of knowledge within the team
Foster an environment of continuous innovation and creativity
Strong collaboration with department heads
Create and maintain a positive working environment in line with the Company’s values
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
Matric essential
Relevant tertiary diploma/degree
Experience as Head of IT or similar role and seniority
Substantial relevant professional experience within IT function including proof of continuous education, such as software certifications
Experience in all areas as per job description
Experience working in Africa will be a major advantage
Strong technical skills and knowledge including a good understanding of applicable tech stack
Ability to deliver under pressure while maintaining the full integrity of actions and high-quality output
Analyse and present complex information in a relevant and comprehensible way
Relationship management and building
Confident and enthusiastic self-starter who can take initiative with mature decision-making and Emotional intelligence
Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team by providing and accepting feedback, and placing the success of the team above own interests
Excellent organizational skills with good end-to-end project management skills and the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
