Purpose of Position:

To manage all activities in the Microbiology laboratory on a daily basis to ensure that set targets and objectives are achieved and to maintain high quality standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Actively support People Management strategies and initiatives by ensuring both administrative and practical implementation of all business processes, policies and procedures, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath, Manage all technical and quality control procedures of the department to ensure best practices are upheld, Manage and monitor laboratory staff to ensure departmental goals are achieved, Perform Material Management tasks in order to ensure sufficient stock quantities are available at all times and to ensure effective control over stock, Perform operational and financial management tasks in order to identify strategic priorities and to control departmental expenses, Perform receiving and resulting tasks on the Meditech system in order to ensure correct handling, preparing and recording of specimens and results, Processing of specimens on the benches in order to ensure sufficient delivery of results, Review, interpret and edit automated identification and sensitivities
