We’re looking for a full-time Business Development to join us remotely, with an estimated start date in Jan/Feb 2021.
In the role, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside our supplier partnership team (called Inspire Team) and help Truly source and create the most memorable experiences in various categories from dining to getaways.
Your role will stretch widely: from reaching out to suppliers, to negotiating commission, to assisting with on-boarding, to analysing merchandising data to helping our partners improve their performance on the Truly platform.
This role is designed for someone who is equally interested about service excellence and business development. But more specifically, someone who would find satisfaction from creating experiences to help others collect memories. Someone who is proactive, takes initiative, has excruciating attention to detail and regularly goes above-and-beyond. Someone who is extremely calm under pressure. Someone who thinks creatively and is independent thinker, this role is not for someone who is looking to only replicate experiences that others have designed in the past.
Someone who aspires to be a Commercial or Operations Director some day in the hospitality / luxury travel sector.
Location: The role can be done Remotely, with regular calls conducted over video chat or phone.
Typical week in this role:
A lot of email and calls to new suppliers who want to learn how to sign up on Truly and learn what experiences they could sell
Designing new experiences and sending for writing to our editorial team
Checking on and following up with partners who have new experiences in production already
Following up with any new suppliers who postponed joining Truly
Occasionally talking to existing partners about experience updates or any concerns they might have
In the short-term, we expect you to be a quick-learner and to start helping and dealing with new suppliers right away (with help from others, of course). But once you find your groove, we expect you to be able to lead your own partnership efforts - and to fill the platform with the most memorable experiences you can find. With time you will have the opportunity to move to a senior position and own specific territory or category.
What might be hard about this role:
Working remotely is not easy, it takes a lot of discipline, organisation and can sometimes feel lonely (but we’re a really cohesive / helpful team virtually).
Business development can sometimes mean tight deadlines and quick turnarounds on a regular basis. There will definitely be pressure and there might be an overwhelming amount of work to prioritise. There will be rejections and failures (as in any business development role). And there will be times where you will encounter difficult people or situations and will need to show great communication and negotiation skills to deal with those people successfully.
