The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the overall execution of the project as well as providing on-site leadership to Direct Reports.
  • Managing and leading all project engineering aspects of EPC and EPCM projects, including project reviews and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Overseeing all interface and interdependency management for all aspects of the project both on and off-site.
  • Managing and developing strong relationships with current clients as well as previous project owners.
  • Managing the delivery of project KPI’s as well as the project management triangle.
  • Facilitating the change management aspects of the project as well as overseeing Health and Safety management of the project.
  • Overseeing and monitoring risk management for the project.
  • Ensuring all governance and compliance requirements for the project are met.
  • Managing the creation and maintenance of project documentation.
  • Overseeing activities relating to Technical Capacity and Intellectual Property development.

Candidate Requirements

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • BSc., BTech. or BEng Mechanical Engineering or related qualification is essential.
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Project Management would be advantageous.
  • 10-15 years’ experience within a Project Management role in EPC and EPCM multidisciplinary industrial environments is essential.
  • SHE Qualification, such as NEBOSH, SAMTRAC or related as well as a good working knowledge of SHE and Quality Assurance methods and practices are essential.
  • Previous experience managing high performance professional teams is essential.
  • Must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of Civil and Electrical Engineering disciplines.
  • Computer literacy in relevant project and business management packages is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of PMBOK as well as project contracting mechanisms, such as JBCC, NEC, GCC or FIDIC or related, is essential.
  • Must have knowledge of procurement mechanisms and tender development.
  • Knowledge of engineering sciences and a technical ability for equipment installation and technology applications within the Water and Wastewater treatment industry would be advantageous.
  • Must be willing to travel both regionally and internationally 30% of the time as well as agree to a flexible working arrangement.
  • Ability to balance time, cost and quality management of project deliverables is essential.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills are essential.
