About the role

We are looking for a Principal Advisor, Mine Planning based in Richards Bay, ZA.  The main purpose of the role is to Integrate mine designs and plans of all ore-bodies to maximise their value driven by market conditions. Outputs of this process are the LOM plan, five year, annual production budgets and resource and reserve statements. You will be responsible for the following:

  • Determine and Maintain mine design criteria for all the RBM orebodies
  • Compile monthly updates of production schedules for all plants based on the life of mine plan. 
  • Liaise with operations to ensure that mine designs and production schedules are achievable
  • Ensure that results and lessons learnt from reconciliation are applied in mine designs
  • Maintain design and reserve data in an auditable and easily navigable system
  • Produce mine designs that maximize the value of RBM and strives to meet all business objectives
  • Develop and maintain monthly updates to designs and scheduling parameters and share this with the mining team during forecast meetings
  • Ensure that best practice reconciliation methods are used to generate reconciliation results
  • Carry out the quarterly reserve reconciliation and produce reports.
  • Carry out annual reserve reconciliation and report for addition the Competence Person Report with detailed analysis regarding reserves mined, deviations experienced and impacting factors.
  • Provide technical expertise and analysis on various projects and ensure that scheduling systems and production reporting systems are maintained.
  • Provide input and technical evaluation on related projects and produce professional reports detailing your findings
  • Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices.
  • Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment, at the discretion of the supervisor.

Candidate Requirements

About you 

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have: 

  • BSc or B. Eng Mining Engineering  / BTech Mining Engineering
  • 5 years experience in a technical mine environment
  • Financial, Project management background beneficial
  • Drivers License: EB (Code 08)
  • A strong safety mindset
  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
  • An excellent understanding of the operation of planning software is important.
  • SAP exposure would be highly advantageous.
