FMCG Company which Imports, Exports, processes and packages food products seeks a Clearing and Forwarding Manager to ensure that the Clearing and Forwarding function has its strong footing in the company by using the best methods to improve revenue generation for the company in assisting in the efficient movement of goods by completing procedural and documentary formalities.

Organise and manage a team in clearing, documentation and logistics for the smooth running of operations in the system.

Ensure all ITAC Permits is applied for 1 month before it expires;

Ensure all DAFF permits are applied for 1 month before it expires;

Ensure all Rebate permits is applied for 3 months before it expires; and

Ensure all ITAC Permit Values is deducted and kept up to date.

Verify proper packaging and labelling of exported goods.

Consider environmental sustainability factors when determining merchandise packing methods.

Track all shipments and submit schedule to GM once a week.

Send Vessel Updates to all concerned relevant parties every morning.

Create and manage new account for new clients.

Inform clients of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipments.

Ensure all facilities are in place for transporters and that all safety standards are met with other specific requirements from clients.

Request ANF/SOB details from Shipping Line to Customs Clear Shipment.

Customs clear and submit shipment via EDI.

Ensure a full set of documents is received from concerned individual to open clearing file.

Ensure final release is obtained from Customs;

Cargo Due order is done with every shipment and submitted.

Submit documents via EDI if Customs request it.

Follow process if cargo is Customs Stopped till final release.

Recommend or arrange appropriate merchandise packing methods, according to climate, terrain, weight, nature of goods, or costs.

Send CTO to Transporter and action delivery.

Prepare invoices or cost quotations for freight transportation.

Ensure that the delivery takes place within the free time to avoid demurrages.

Ensure demurrage invoice is paid before Container is collected by transporter.

Analyse shipping routes to determine how to minimize environmental impact.

Arrange for transport, using a variety of modes, such as rail, short sea shipping, air, or roadways, to minimize carbon emissions or other environmental impacts.

Select shipment routes, based on transit times and security needs.

Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving seafood products from one location to another.

Assist with the balance of the Customs deferment every month.

Assist with Tariff Headings if requested by Traders.

Assist with all Customs related matters on hand (Refunds, TDN, PP’s, Liquidations).

Request Freight Rates from Shipping Line for Exported cargo.

Handle over border shipments via Namibia (Imports and Exports).

Negotiate Freight Rates with Shipping Lines.

Make the Booking with the Shipping Line for Exports and the Airlines for Exports.

Make sure Weight Certificate is done (VGM).

Pre-Advise Export Container into Stack.

Get release from Handover Agent.

Submit the SI to the Shipping Line for processing.

Ensure proper compliance and adherence to all appropriate regulations, policies and laws.

Submit reports in an accurate and timely manner.

Ensure weekly update of activities are given GM.

Assist when needed in the department.

Make sure the day to day running of the Clearing and Forwarding department

runs smoothly.



Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics and or any other degree that is related to the field

Good computer skills, familiar with MS-Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).



Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience.
