The role of the Site Manager is to plan, execute, and finalise projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors to deliver projects according to plan. The Site Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle


1.Manage relations with various stakeholders by:
- Co-ordinating activities of the contractor, service providers and other
- Managing service providers
- Ensuring that the correct infrastructure and trained technical support
personnel are in place to support the programme
- Being able to have sufficient industry and product knowledge to be able to
guide and mentor technical support personnel to ensure they meet their full
2. Manage Projects by:
- Aligning programme with time, quality and cost requirements
- Advising on technical interpretation of specification requirements
- Ensuring technical compliance in all construction processes
- Checking and supervising work being done
3. Contractor Development by:
- Evaluating and assessing the contractor’s skills, identification of the
contractor’s shortcomings
- Providing suitable relevant professional advice to the contractor to address
the shortcomings to achieve their potential
4. Manage and co-ordinate administration of the Gauteng Incubator
Programme by:
- Supervising team to ensure capacity building activities are included in the
operations of the Gauteng Incubator Programme
- Organising team to ensure effective implementation of the programme
- Providing strategic direction on the development content of the Gauteng
Incubator Programme
- Ensuring efficient implementation of capacity building elements
- Planning of proposed capacity building programmes in terms of inputs,
objectives, time frames and measures of success regarding Gauteng
Incubator Programme
- Liaising with NHFC on issues of conceptualisation, planning and on-going
development of existing programmes to ensure delivery of outputs
- Providing technical support as and when required

Monitor and report on programme progress by:
- Co-ordinating and managing each process
- Compiling reports on status, financial control and possible problem areas
- Pro-actively identifying possible risks
- Managing risks
6. General:
- Perform any other related task
- Uphold NHFC values and principles
- Enhance teamwork by building relationships with colleagues

Required Skills

  • project management : 5 to 6 years
  • quantity surveying : 5 to 6 years
  • construction industry : 5 to 6 years

Candidate Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Construction Management or Civil /
Building Engineering or Quantity Surveying
- Formal training in Project management
- 5 years experience in the construction industry
-Demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience in technical and project
management competencies

The ability to:
- Transfer skills and assess a contactor’s capabilities
- Demonstrate competence in construction contract administration
- Demonstrate technical competence in one or more construction disciplines
- Demonstrate competence in construction project management
- Knowledge in construction project management
- Provincial and local government protocol, structures and systems
- Be attentive to detail when checking work and materials
