Act as key advisor to the Chief Executive providing knowledgeable review and recommendations
Attend a multititude of strategy forums and key management committees
Ensure that policy or strategy decisions taken by the Chief Executive are communicated
Evaluate, interpret and deliver only relevant information to the Chief Executive
Act as initial point of entry for escalated client queries and for queries from other external stakeholders
Interface with the Chief Executive's direct reports
Oversee the planning and execution of large events for the Chief Executive
Provide the Chief executive with different and conflicting opinions
Interact with other business units on behalf of the Chief Executive
Monitor the overall financial effectiveness of the business unit
Develop good working relationships with areas of the Bank as well as with external parties
Prepare the key themes, presentations and reviews for the Chief Executive and assist with detailed content when required
Oversee the management of the Chief Executive's office
Screen requests for meetings or events to be attended by the Chief Executive and determine which ones would be appropriate
Ensure the Chief Executive's daily schedule meets his or her needs for that day
Act as crisis coordinator and allocate tasks to the crisis teams
Review the risk and compliance profiles of the business unit on a regular basis and provide consultative support
Monitor the potential impact of new tactical plans on the reputational risk of the business unit and the Bank and advise seniors in the business on appropriate action to take to minimise the risk
Perform people management functions, including but not limited to:
workforce and recruitment demand planning
recruitment
talent management and succession planning
mentoring and coaching
management of discipline and grievances
performance development
reward and recognition management
training and development
Review and update the departments organisation structure and role profiles regularly
Ensure that Code of Good Practice targets are met for the team
Ensure satisfactory service delivery and equal distribution of workloads in the teams
Manage cost within approved budget
Ensure compliance to policies, legislation and regulations and that staff compliance training and attestations are in place
