Superintendent I, Drilling
The Kamoa Copper Mine is a joint venture between Ivanhoe Mines (39.6%), Zijin Mining Group (39.6%), Crystal River Global Limited (0.8%) and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (20%). It's a very large, near-surface, flat-lying, stratiform copper deposit with adjacent prospective exploration areas within the Central African Copperbelt, at approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Kolwezi and about 270 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Lubumbashi.

Responsible for leading and coordinating exploration, infill, and resource definition drilling operations across the Kamoa-Kakula deposits in support of exploration, geological modelling, resource development, and mine planning objectives. The role ensures drilling activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved technical, operational, and quality standards. The incumbent manages drilling contractors, field crews, drilling logistics, equipment compliance, and drilling performance while ensuring accurate drill execution, core quality, operational reporting, and adherence to company HSE requirements. The position works closely with geology, technical services, contractors, and operational teams to support safe, cost-effective, and high-quality drilling programs in a dynamic mining environment.
You will have the following:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate required.
- Drilling, mining, or technical vocational training certificate
- Multi-licence (Sandvik, Bell, Caterpillar etc on various equipment) certificates is an added advantage
- Supervisory training or relevant mining safety training preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- First Aid and mine safety certifications advantageous.
- Licenced to operate Drill Rigs
- Proficiency in business English is mandatory. Knowledge of French and Swahili will be considered highly advantageous.
Technical Skills should include:
- Drilling operations supervision
- Diamond, RC, and RAB drilling knowledge
