Livestock Reproductive Veterinarian

Location: Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Remuneration: Depending on experience

Bonus: Annual discretionary bonus based on employee performance and the company's financial performance.

Travel Requirement: Extensive travel within South Africa and international travel from time to time

We are seeking a passionate and driven Livestock Reproductive Veterinarian to join our growing team and contribute to the advancement of livestock genetics and reproductive excellence throughout Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Perform Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) procedures.

Conduct Artificial Insemination (AI) programmes.

Perform reproductive ultrasound examinations and pregnancy diagnosis.

Conduct bull breeding soundness evaluations and fertility testing.

Perform semen collection and reproductive health assessments.

Provide herd health and reproductive management services.

Support IVF, embryo transfer, and advanced reproductive programmes.

Deliver professional veterinary and technical support to clients.

Maintain accurate programme records and reports.

Assist in training, development, and implementation of new reproductive technologies.

Represent Absolute Genetics at client visits, industry events, and training programmes.

Travel extensively throughout South Africa and occasionally internationally.

Advantageous Experience

Experience in bovine reproduction and herd health.

Artificial Insemination and pregnancy diagnosis experience.

Semen collection and processing experience.

Knowledge of dairy and beef production systems.

Experience working with advanced reproductive technologies and genetics programmes.

Experience working across diverse farming operations and environments.

Practical experience in Ovum Pick-Up (OPU).

Embryo flush and transfer experience.
