Employer: Core Group

TechMarkit is looking for a detail-oriented and technically minded Device Technician to be responsible for inspecting, testing, grading, and processing pre-owned devices while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance with company standards.


Role Purpose

The Device Technician is responsible for the end-to-end assessment and processing of pre-owned devices within the warehouse environment. This includes running diagnostic software, evaluating device condition, performing basic troubleshooting and repairs, accurately recording results, and preparing devices for resale or further processing.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining product quality, stock accuracy, and operational efficiency while supporting Core Group's commitment to delivering premium customer experiences.


Key Responsibilities

Device Testing & Diagnostics

  • Perform comprehensive device diagnostics using approved testing software and tools.
  • Identify hardware and software faults and accurately document findings.
  • Verify device functionality against established quality standards.
  • Escalate technical issues where required.

Device Grading & Assessment

  • Assess and grade pre-owned devices according to company grading standards.
  • Accurately classify cosmetic and functional conditions.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across all grading activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of grading outcomes.

Repairs & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct basic repairs and fault resolution where applicable.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software-related issues.
  • Ensure all repaired devices meet required quality standards before processing.

Inventory & Warehouse Operations

  • Receive, sort, label, and process incoming devices.
  • Assist with stock dispatch and movement activities.
  • Support inventory control and stock accuracy initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate data capture and processing records.

Reporting & Administration

  • Capture diagnostic results, grading information, and repair outcomes accurately.
  • Generate reports and maintain processing documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and audit requirements.

Safety, Security & Housekeeping

  • Adhere to all warehouse safety and security procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organised, and efficient work areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the operation.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • A+ CompTIA Certification (advantageous)

Experience

  • 1–3 years' experience in hardware diagnostics, repairs, or technical support.
  • Experience working within a warehouse, logistics, refurbishment, or technical processing environment will be advantageous.
  • Experience using diagnostic and testing software tools.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Process-driven with a strong quality focus.
  • Sound Microsoft Office skills.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic, testing, and grading software.
  • Strong data-capturing and administrative skills.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • High levels of integrity, accountability, and ownership.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced operational environment.
