Key Responsibilities:
- Social Strategy & Planning: Lead multi-channel social strategy, setting ambitious growth and engagement targets. Translate club goals into actionable content plans and structured calendars balancing storytelling, matchday, commercial needs, and fan engagement.
- ‘Players First’ Strategy: Design and deliver a social framework to build player profiles as content creators aligned with club brand goals. Collaborate on authentic content elevating player voice, co-create with talent, and build strong player relationships. Track and grow player social metrics for club brand expansion.
- Content & Campaign Execution: Oversee daily publishing (matchday, training, lifestyle, UGC, reactive). Collaborate with creative teams on platform-tailored innovative formats aligned with club tone. Integrate social into broader marketing and commercial campaigns.
- Community & Culture: Foster fan dialogue and connection through an engaging presence. Stay ahead of trends to engage in wider conversations. Activate stakeholders to expand community-led content.
- Analytics & Performance Reporting: Own performance reporting, using insights to refine content and guide decisions. Set benchmarks for key metrics and share reports to inform strategy.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and mentor the social media team. Collaborate across internal teams and represent social in discussions, ensuring campaign integration. Contribute to creative and sponsorship pitches.
Minimum Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in related field.
- 5+ years leading social media in high-growth (ideally sport/entertainment/youth culture).
- Proven success with player/talent-first strategies for engagement and growth.
- Deep platform knowledge (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube) and creative instincts.
- Experience with live sports content and matchday/training cycles.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and editorial judgment.
- Proficiency in social media tools (e.g., Emplifi, Sprout, Dash Hudson).
- Experience building relationships with athletes/public figures in high-pressure settings.
Desirable:
- Experience in professional rugby/high-performance sport.
- Knowledge of player IP/NIL and athlete-driven content.
- Creative production skills (short-form video, copywriting).
- Understanding of paid social and influencer collaborations.
