Our client (a cold storage company) is looking for a Distribution Manager (ideally with cold food/cold storage experience) to join their Cape Town Team (Montague Gardens) .

The Distribution Manager will play a key role in organizing and coordinating the storage, and distribution of a company's goods or products, and also serve as the point of contact between departments, customers, and suppliers, to manage the day-to-day running of the distribution operations; manage procurement, maintenance, control of vehicles, health & safety, and security of the distribution department.

Candidate Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
Minimum: NQF level 4 or 5 Certificate in supply chain, and/or distribution logistics and/or commerce and/or Recognition for prior learning (RPL) based on years of experience and knowledge gained
Preferred: NQF level 5 Diploma in supply chain, and/or distribution logistics and/or commerce, Degree in Transport & Road Freight.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large teams of drivers and staff.
Sound understanding of distribution and logistics processes within the FMCG or cold storage sector.
Proven experience in the FMCG or cold storage industry, with substantial time spent in a management role.
Minimum: 5+ years’ experience in a management role, in a high-volume Transport operation.
Preferred: More than 8 years’ experience in a management role, in a high-volume Transport operation, within the frozen/chilled food industry

Technical Competencies Knowledge/Understanding:

Health and Safety Act
Knowledge of Distribution Routes and Planning
Understanding of the National Road Traffic Act 1996
AARTO Demerit System
Basic technical understanding of refrigerated loading vehicles and loading specifications
Knowledge of large volume of frozen food delivery
Understanding of how to manage a large vehicle delivery fleet (> 50 vehicles)
Knowledge about the Food Safety Management Systems
Basic technical understanding of vehicle maintenance and vehicle refrigeration
