We are looking for an experienced Network Engineer to implement and maintain network solutions for our business. As a network engineer, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting and maintaining security.
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Recommend technical solutions with completion timeline
Assist in maintain organisation’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans
Direct research in emerging technology by studying organisation goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
Network health and upgrades, support and changes
Keep network related documentation up to date.
Planning, Implementing & Expanding the network
Assist with overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
New fibre rollouts, planning, budgeting, ordering, configuring
Responsible to monitor and troubleshoot all systems and/or escalate to the relevant departments as required.
Identify and plan network changes and upgrades
Ongoing maintenance of systems and networks to support the group and both commercial and residential clients
New network hardware procurement
Administer and monitor network and infrastructure.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent
Networking certification in Mikrotik advantageous
Experience and knowledge
Proven work experience in a similar role
Experience leading and managing large networking projects
ISP or telecommunications background
Layer 2 protocols such as Vlans and including QinQ / Selective QinQ to support an open access fibre network
IPv4 and IPv6 addressing and subnetting
Routing protocols, e.g. OSPF and BGP
Tunnelling, e.g. EOIP / PPTP etc.
Brands such as Juniper, Mikrotik, Cisco, Dell, HP, Ubiquiti
Skills and attributes
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Proven organisational and technical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Able to work well within a team and individually
Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated
Ability to convey technical knowledge, liaise with providers and deal with issues proactively
Must have a valid drivers licence and reliable vehicle

Working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 to 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to be on call on a rotational basis.
With centrally located and modern offices just across from Cavendish in Claremont, we are offering a salary from R 40 000 cost to company per month.
