Financial Manager -Construction Industry

Location: Johannesburg South (remotely most of the time)

Salary: R65 000CTC – R90 000CTC

Opportunity

This role will be responsible for all the traditional FM tasks at organisational level while managing a small but excellent and established remote finance team.  In addition, the role will focus on contract and project finance and assist the operational team with reporting, forecasting and billing. This is a remote work position.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Project Focus:

Implement EXCO’s standardized best practices for project control function, including cash forecasts, cost to completion reporting, burn rate analysis, risk assessment and other cost estimating processes

Establish and lead the project control function supporting multiple Contracts within the Project portfolio.

Ensure contract cost control and risk assessment with responsibilities for both internal and external reporting

Works alongside project managers and project sponsors in support of managing the financial and contractual elements of the project(s).

Prepares and manages project specific deliverables related to financial or contractual requirements (such as invoicing, supporting back-up data, limitation of funds, communications, etc.)

Provides reporting and analysis, financial understanding, and business perspective on a variety of financial and operational issues related to the financial health and execution of the project.

Company Focus:

Assists in the development of training, competency profiles and career development of staff to include performance evaluation, and goal setting.

Provides strategic direction to the team that aligns with organization and project objectives.

Champions and ensures compliance to standardized best practices for project finance as well as organisational finance.

Serves as a subject matter expert for Project Finance from a financial perspective and an understanding of the projects’ drivers, milestones, and performance impacts.

Drives compliance with company, client, local and other legal requirements and regulations.

Takes responsibility for all SARS related submissions, issues and communications.

Champion and ensures adequate risk management regarding all insurance related issues – Contracts all Risk insurance, Professional Indemnity ins, Asset insurance etc.

Champion and ensures compliance to different legal frameworks like B-BBEE legislation, CIDB registration, Workmen’s’ Compensation etc.

Evaluate and report on the Company health status by maintaining a reconciled Balance Sheet for all entities on a quarterly basis.

Be the liaison with external auditors, bankers, insurance companies and other stakeholders and provide necessary information to keep these relationships in place.
