About the Project Engineer Role
The Project Engineer needs to assist the Engineering Manager with all engineering related matters. This includes the designing of renewable energy systems, accurately predict project costings, accurately calculating system productions and ensuring the designed systems are robust in operation. The Solar PV Project Engineer must continually be kept up to date with new technological developments in the Solar PV and Energy Storage Industry making sure NSE remains at the forefront of innovative customised solutions to be offered to our clients:
Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist the Engineering Manager or Senior Project Engineer in designing of renewable energy systems.
Do site inspections to accurately design and cost new projects.
Draw up budgets for proposed new projects.
Create detailed drawings for information and construction purposes.
Create as built drawings.
Measure and create bills of quantities for installations.
Accurately simulate system performances and/or productions.
Form part of commissioning team on site during project commissioning.
Assist with any engineering related operations and maintenance issues.
Assist in creating design tools for engineering department.
Assist the project specific Project Manager with any engineering related project related issues.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design and visualization software.
The ability to work with multiple disciplines of projects.
The ability to work across multiple projects in parallel.
Excellent organizational, time management, leadership and decision making skills.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices.
The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines.
Attention to detail.
A minimum qualification of B.Eng, BSc. Eng, B.Tech Eng in Electrical engineering.
Registered or eligible to register with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
