Our client, a leading Manufacturer situated in Cape Town requires a highly effective and experienced Compliance and Risk Manager to join their Human Resources Team. Non-Western Cape Residents will be required to relocate.
Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources, the main purpose of the Compliance and Risk Manager is to assume the responsibilities of competent person in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and compliance in terms of the General Machinery Regulation 2(1). It is critical to be in possession of a Government Certificate Of Competence (GCC) Factories.
GCC (Factories) : 8 to 9 years
GMR 2.1 Competency : 8 to 9 years
Rik & Compliance Management : 8 to 9 years
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
Facility Management aspects:
·Appointed as the competent person in terms of the OHSA, GMR 2(1) being responsible for the safe use of all machinery on all of the premises/factories.
·Responsible for the effective management and maintenance of all machinery, vehicles and buildings by managing an effective preventative and planned maintenance programme to ensure the best utilisation and output of all these company assets and resources.
·The planning, budgeting and executing of the annual shutdown program to ensure the effective annual scheduled maintenance of all major and critical machines and equipment.
·Ensure compliance to relevant National Building Regulations and Fire Safety Bylaws (including handling and storage of flammable goods). Champion and lead the rollout of policies, procedures and minimum standards for SCIDR (security, critical incident and disaster recovery) in line with legislation, and ensure that the strategies, procedures, and operational plans for handling SCIDR within the sites are implemented, monitored and evaluated effectively.
Safety, occupational health & environmental aspects/compliance:
Chair monthly Health and Safety meetings and ensure items are addressed accordingly.
·Facilitate the execution of Risk Assessments and maintaining the company Risk Registry.
Oversee monthly legal compliance audits and applicable reporting·
Formulate, implement and manage the company Emergency Management Plan (Emergency Preparedness).
·To compile, track and control the applicable OPEX and CAPEX budgets in accordance with the Company approved budget.
People Management :
·Build and maintain an effective team thereby ensuring that the operating objectives and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by the team members.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum qualification: National Diploma (NQF6) in Degree Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent.
Ideal qualification: Degree (NQF7) in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering and/or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in related field with up to 2 years managerial exposure.
Must be in possession of a Government Certificate of Competence (GCC) factories.
Competent to be appointed as GMR 2.1
An understanding and working knowledge of the latest statutory regulations governing health and safety aspects in the workplace.
Must have GCC (Factories)
Must be competent to be appointed as GMR 2.1
Must be highly experienced and knowledgeable re: OHS Act; Environmental Management Act; COIDA; Wate Regulations (Hazardous & Non-Hazardous); National Building Regulations and all applicable By-Laws.
Must be a South African Citizen
