Position:              Buyer – International/Local Purchases

Report to:           Financial Manager

 

Brief overview:

The successful candidate will be fully responsible for:

  • Obtaining quotes from designated suppliers for stock orders from the Stock Controller
  • Obtain pricing and delivery for customer orders from Internal Sales
  • Calculate the landed cost
  • Write out the requisition
  • Ensure that the requisition is signed before placing orders
  • Scan and email all purchase orders to relevant suppliers
  • Follow the Schedule of Authorities
  • Ensuring an order confirmation is received within a 48 hour period
  • Update Macola with the promised delivery dates
  • Arrange the shipment of ready orders using chosen freight forwarders
  • Have the ability to consolidate shipments from various suppliers in one country
  • Cost and process  the shipment once the goods have arrived in stores
  • Communicate to relevant Internal Customers of what stock has been received
  • Do a monthly graph of On Time Delivery performance per supplier
  • Sit in on monthly S&OP meeting to take minutes, type and distribute to all
  • Attend the weekly Ops meetings
  • Have monthly skype calls with suppliers to build and strengthen relationships
  • Be responsible for month end / Creditors: Group and Non Group suppliers
  • Run  reports three times a week to ensure all deliveries are on track
  • Alert the Stock Controller / Planner of any delays in advance
  • Weekly update report to relevant people internally giving latest outstanding orders and promised delivery dates (any delays must be accompanied by a Late Material Notification)
  • Ensure that all supplier price increases are within a minimum acceptance to be approved by Senior Management. 
  • Ensure all foreign invoices are sent for fwd cover
  • Ensure that bank copies for Group and Non Group are sent at least a week in advance
  • Forward the monthly supplier bank recon per supplier payment to relevant suppliers
  • Ability to follow and improve where necessary set procedures
  • Assist with stock takes on the admin side
  • Assist with back up for reception when necessary
  • Print the daily foreign currency rate schedule
  • Be flexible as working late may sometimes be required

 


Candidate Requirements

  • Matric
  • 4-6 Years international buying experience
  • Pastel Experience

Must reside in the south or east rand
