Candidate Requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience: 

  • MBChB
  • Postgraduate qualification or significant public heath experience
  • Three years in the Clinical Practice of HIV/TB Medicine

Desirable experience

  • Diploma in HIV Management 
  • Post-Graduate qualification in a health- related field 
  • Experience working in or with District, Regional or Tertiary State Hospitals will be an advantage. 
  • Experience of engagement with District, provincial management structures and senior technical experts 
  • Experience in quality improvement methods and stakeholder engagement
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with key national care and treatment initiatives 

Key Perfomance Areas

  • Develop models of best practice for efficient and effective PHC HAST programme implementation and management.
  • Pro-actively identify any other root causes of clinical/program bottle necks that prevent the PHC facilities’ HAST program from meeting/exceeding the DoH/PEPFAR HAST program targets and work with DoH and RtC teams to unlock those bottlenecks 
  • Conduct site clinical quality audits at CHCs/PHC clinics and facilitate the implementation of required quality improvement interventions
  • Appropriately assess, examine, investigate, diagnose and treat patients, resulting in the safe management, discharge and/or appropriate referral of patients to the next level of care.
  • Integrate the technical support to the Paediatric/Adult ART/PMTCT care and treatment programmes at the PHC facilities
  • Ensure good working relations with all staff at supported sites 
  • Technical Assistance and ongoing clinical mentoring to PHC doctors/nurses and RtC staff in implementing care & treatment and advanced clinical care integration
  • Directly provide clinical services at allocated facilities to improve program performance.
  • Provide regular care and treatment programme reports that inform implementation results and progress
  • Monitoring technical assistance provided to the PHC facilities and ensure it is aligned with RTC’s model for care and treatment strategy
  • Support, contribute and advance the body of knowledge for the promotion of the health of patients
