The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Creating concept, basic and detailed process designs of turnkey water and wastewater solutions.
  • Developing proposals and cost estimates for solutions and plants for customers.
  • Managing project design and development in line with customer specification and legislation requirements.
  • Establishing, developing and managing client relationships as well as conducting site visits to clients and providing technical assistance as required.
  • Identifying, selecting and evaluating Suppliers as well as relevant technology applications.
  • Creating and executing plant design trials as required.
  • Participating in research and development of new technology and Intellectual Property.
  • Acting as the Technical Lead for turnkey projects within the assigned portfolio.
  • Compiling documentation and presentations as required.

Candidate Requirements

  Minimum requirements for the role:

  • BSc or BEng Chemical Engineering or related qualification with exposure to other engineering disciplines is essential.
  • Post Graduate Qualification in a Process related discipline would be advantageous.
  • 5 years' experience in a Process Engineer role within a Water and Wastewater Consulting and Projects environment or related experience within a Food Manufacturing Design environment is essential.
  • Must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
  • Computer literacy in relevant project and business management packages is essential.
  • Must have experience in and the capability to find a balance between process design, cost effective manufacturing processes, practical construction methods as well as reliability and operability.
  • Must have knowledge and technical ability for plant and equipment designs as well as knowledge of engineering sciences and technology applications within the Water and Wastewater treatment industry.
  • Must have experience in conceptualising and designing plants and equipment.
  • Knowledge of SHE and Quality Assurance methodologies and practices is essential.
  • Must be able to analyse complex problems, interpret operational needs and develop integrated solutions.
  • Must have Project Engineering as well as Project Management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication as well as presentation skills are essential.
  • Must have knowledge of procurement mechanisms and tender development.
  • Must be willing to travel regionally and internationally 30% of the time as well as be open to a flexible working arrangement.
