Reporting to : General Manager

Our client is seeking a Production Manager responsible for the management of the plant’s manufacturing processes and the outputs.

Job requirements :

* BSc. Engineering degree or equivalent
* Relevant post graduate production / business qualification
* At least 5 years’ corrugated experience
* At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory / manager capacity
* Have a sound understanding of effective manufacturing processes

Duties :
- Managing the full manufacturing activities of the operation, including machine maintenance, cost control and process efficiencies. 
- Improve machine throughput and reduce waste by managing people, processes and equipment 
- Proactively reduce down-time. 
- Identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide cost leadership for the operation to perform at or better than budget, in line with the business demand strategy.
- Pro-actively managing costs associated with materials and labour costs. 
- Identification of Capex requirements and significant input into the planning of the operation’s medium to long term asset replacement program. 
- Management of waste to remain within budget and limit year on year expenditure to the minimum. 
- Ensure to limit unnecessary expenditure and ensure a cost effective operation in support of the corporate growth strategy.
- Continuously manage, utilise and develop the production team in line with changing business needs
- Ensure that subordinates have the necessary qualifications and training required by legislation for the relevant positions.
- Ensure that the subordinates uphold the relevant regulations to limit risks
- Providing input in the planning of projects. 
- Ensure that projects are completed within the allocated time and budget and is done for the expansion and upgrading of the plant .
- Delegating corrective measures to uphold housekeeping standards.
- Maintaining, recording and inputting accurate operational information and data (manual and computerised systems).
