Purpose of this role:

To apply accounting principles and procedures, analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are adhered to



  • Ensure accurate monthly financial reporting and deadlines are met
  • Maintain accurate sets of accounts up to trial balance level and accurate account / bank reconciliations
  • Obtain, analyze and evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts, etc
  • Produce accurate and clean monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitor and ensure a high standard of financial hygiene is maintained in all accounting practices
  • Ensure all data capturing is done accurately and on time and all financial deadlines are met
  • Interact effectively with management and  communicate any operational problems to management immediately to ensure that there is follow up and problems are resolved
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures as communicated by management
  • Ensure accurate and up to date processing of daily required reports and timely year end rollover
  • Ensure accurate completion and analysis of cash flow forecasts
  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
  • Monitor wages and prepare actual versus required wage summaries and other payroll information


  • Produce annual budget income statements
  • Investigate and resolve variances between month to month actual figures and between actual and budgeted figures
  • Ensure continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
  • Analyze management accounts and provide solutions for variances against budget or any abnormal trends


  • Coordinate the audit process and ensure financial audit preparation
  • Ensure that stock take procedures are being adhered to  (where applicable)
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all statutory returns


  • Carry out any other ad hoc duties as and when required by management
  • Liaise with different personnel, as is required, to prevent delays and on-time delivery
  • Ensure knowledge of company’s HR policies and procedures and that staff are aware and properly trained on these (where applicable)
  • Ensure high quality standards of work are adhered to at all times

Required Skills

  • pastel : 3 to 4 years
  • management skills : 4 to 5 years
  • accountant : 3 to 4 years

Candidate Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent
  • BCom degree / Accounting diploma or equivalent
  • Computer literate (Pastel & MS Office) - Must have
  • Minimum of 3 years’ accounting related experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ commercial experience
  • Working experience in the interpretation and use of GAAP
