A well-established leading comminution, separation and sorting technology provider to the mining and metallurgical plant operations, chemical and industrial industries, as well as pulp and paper industries, requires the above to achieve asset mechanical reliability business objectives and assist the operations team in meeting asset capability objectives.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • B.Eng. or BSc Mechanical Engineering qualification or related is essential.

  • Previous engineering experience is essential.

  • Crushing experience would be preferred.

  • CAD experience would be advantageous.

  • Structural design and materials handling experience would be advantageous.

  • Must have a technical aptitude.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.

  • Must have own transport and a valid driver’s licence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Product and Process Development:

  • Promoting the development of company technologies and the general knowledge level within the company.

  • Developing creative ways to streamline company processes and increasing internal efficiency.

  • Continuously developing and improving support models for customer support and service centres.

  • Developing new technology and products.

Test Work:

  • Conducting test work and determining the suitability of available equipment to the client’s requirements.

  • Producing technical reports and specifications in connection with any test work performed. 

  • Assisting the customer in understanding the demands of the material and the implications of machine selection on upstream or downstream processes.

Product Realization:

  • Creating product definitions tailored to the customer’s needs.

  • Creating a register of items and bills of materials in the relevant information system to allow for the procurement of machines, spare parts and equipment.

  • Commissioning new equipment to meet the company’s and the clients operating requirements.

  • Ensuring that any manufactured components are manufactured to the highest level, by means of accurate drawings, technical descriptions and quality requirement lists together with interactions with the supplier and relevant procurement representative.

Product Support and System Optimisation:

  • Liaising with customers to develop an understanding of the customers needs.

  • Conducting investigations into equipment failures and any customer operational concerns.

  • Conducting system audits of customer sites in order to determine system efficiency and assist in plant optimisation.

  • Producing technical reports detailing failure investigations as well as audits and optimisation exercises.

Engineering Management:

  • Managing engineering processes (ECPs, Drawing Requests and QIRs, etc)

  • Administering the engineering system (Network Data, Machine Register, manuals and IPCs, etc)

  • Ensuring that component drawings and QRLs are accurate and drawn to the company's requirements.
