Based in East London, this role will report to the Asset & Maintenance Manager and be responsible for timeous execution of WIDE RANGE OF PUMP AND TANK projects, from start to finish, organise and oversee construciton procedures, according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, quantity surveyors etc. to determine the specifications of the project
  • Manage Pump and Tank contractors and sub-contractors
  • Interpret project drawings and construct scope of works
  • Issue RFQ’s to contractors as well as professional team
  • Negotiating contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Plan all operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines to be met
  • Manage/co-ordinate projects through all 6 project cycle stages
  • Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
  • Manage project quality
  • Implement cost saving initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
  • Manage project risk and communicate effectively

This position would entail travelling to the different sites

 


Required Skills

  • project management : 5 to 6 years
  • building contractor : 5 to 6 years
  • pumpstation design : 6 to 7 years
  • budget process : 5 to 6 years
  • fuel system design : 5 to 6 years

Candidate Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • NQF6/Diploma/BTech Engineering
  • 5 years’ experience in building construction
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Project Management advantageous
  • Un-endorsed driver’s licence 
  • Knowledge of JBCC and NEC Contracts essential
  • Computer literate in MS Projects Excel, Word, Power-point and Outlook
  • Knowledge of fuel pumps and tanks 
  • Knowledge of SHEQ and regulatory requirements within the fuel / related industry advantageous
  • Behavioural attributes include: self-management, positive conflict resolution, organisational skills, commitment, honesty, communication, relationship building, customer service excellence, excellent work ethic, enthusiasm, attention to detail, problem identification, adaptable, innovative, ability to work under pressure
