 My client, a leading and well known FMCG Company based in Stellenbosch requires a competent and experienced Procurement Specialist. 

This position is reporting to the Group Procurement Manager

The role available is in the Head Office Procurement team In-direct Procurement area.

Duties & Responsibilities  

Process implementation for procurement related to goods and services.

Manage and develop resources to deliver business partner satisfaction and achievement of overall business and financial objectives.  

Negotiate favourable contractual terms and conditions for the business with suppliers.  

Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders,

fostering collaboration and teamwork.  

Deliver on cost reduction commitments through the identification, development and execution of innovative strategic sourcing initiatives.  

Develop and implement efficiencies, standardized tools, practices and procedures shortening the quotation, RFP and decision making and evaluation time.  

Implement and maintain category management processes and reviews on a regular basis to ensure relevance and conformance with best practices, and to ensure compliance with internal and regulatory policies.  

Work cross-functionally to support KPI and savings initiatives with other departments.  

Ensure business partner satisfaction and achievement of overall business and financial objectives.  

Establish Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) practices and reinforces through regular benchmarking, periodic RFP's and supplier performance metrics reporting.  

Conducts in-depth spend analysis and data mining for categories (Deep Dive on Category Spends).  

Drafting and maintenance of in-depth spend analysis templates.

Contributes towards achieving Departmental KPI’s.

Minimises risk in area of responsibility, by ensuring due diligence in all areas.

Asssit with Vendor Application processes and queries (service lever agreement, credit applications etc.)

Provide support to Head of Procurement



Required Skills

  • procurement : 5 to 6 years
  • vendor management : 2 to 3 years
  • strategic procurement : 5 to 6 years

Candidate Requirements

3 to 5 years of Supply Chain/Procurement experience (FMCG) of which 1 years must be within a Strategic Procurement environment in a Specialist role (Compulsory).

In-direct Strategic Procurement experience is preferred.  

Tertiary Qualification in Business, Purchasing or Related field.

CIPS beneficial.

Proven Capabilities related to Strategic Purchasing / Procurement.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people of all levels.

Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities and deliver high quality output under tight deadlines and pressure.

 Working knowledge of contracts and SLA’s.

Team orientation, with a strong sense of commitment to team members.

Strong communication skills and highly professional presence.

Strategic thinking, with strong problem-solving skills.

Advanced computer knowledge and skills – MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
