Company processing and packaging, importing, exporting and distribute seafood products to and from various countries world Wide seeks a Food Technologist to assist the quality control manager with the managing, monitoring and maintaining of the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) for the quality department, ensuring all quality standards are met. This will cover all incoming and outgoing products that moves through the cold store. It will also include the labelling thereof as per governing legislation. Furthermore, and in conjunction with the Food Technologist - Technical, ensure legislative and customer compliance of all products, raw material and packaging. You will need Excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the Ability to conduct research and analyse data, have a Strong attention to detail, excellent Problem-solving skills, have a Strong ability to multitask, be Open to change and learning new systems. Must have own transport. Must be flexible due to work demands.
Your Duties will include, but not be limited to:
Ensure that food safety and quality procedures are adhered to.
Assist the QC manager with the management of the FSMS.
Provide honest, accurate and timely quality reporting.
Ensure that all quality related documentation is duly and accurately completed daily
and signed off by the respective department manager.
All information is filed accordingly for quick whenever necessary.
Ensure that all relevant PRP’s (prerequisite programs) are maintained, including
daily hygiene inspections.
Ensure that all incoming products meet specification, by conducting checks on
incoming and outgoing shipments [fresh and frozen products].
Ensure that quality processes are controlled by monitoring and recording quality
parameters and temperature throughout receiving and outgoing processes.
To undertake other duties in line with food safety as required. This will mean
assisting the Food Technologist – Technical.
B.Sc Food Tech/Consumer Sciences or related qualification.
Any additional qualifications/experience in quality control / food safety in the
seafood industry will be advantageous.
HACCP and GMP ‘s knowledge advantageous.
Computer literate (Excel, Word & Microsoft)
2-3 years relevant work experience.
