Role To manage the monthly payroll process and to be the principal contact in relation to all payroll,
employee benefits and employee transfer related matters.
This role will suit an intelligent and hardworking individual and should be seen as an opportunity to

The successful candidate should have at least three years payroll experience and ideally experience
with South African and Expatriate annual reporting. The position requires a results driven, detail
oriented person who can process numerical information with speed and accuracy. Within this role,
there will also be a certain amount of monitoring of, and collating of data of the South African and
international payrolls. The candidate must have an ability to work to strict deadlines together with
the ability to communicate professionally with all levels of staff both internally and externally, and
show a flexible attitude to their workload.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Payroll
Processing of the monthly payroll for approximately 170 employees in SA
Liaising with payroll providers to ensure timeous completion of payroll in other Africa
countries (e.g. Nigeria and Kenya)
Applying, processing and calculating payroll data for all payrolls.
Distributing monthly payslips
Assistance with monthly payroll journals
Monthly payroll reconciliations (Payroll Control / PAYE / UIF and SDL)
Set up new employee folders and file all new employee details such as contracts, tax
information and process new information onto the payroll system
Annual and Bi-Annual SARS Reporting (IRP5’S ETC.)
Responsibility for monthly SDL / UIF and PAYE returns and payments.
Maintaining records of PAYE payments, loan deductions etc.
Liaising with internal (staff, management) and external organizations (SARS) on payroll
matters.
Maintain US citizen calendar year compensation history to assist in W2 reporting at year
end, cross referencing on a monthly basis against schedule received from US
Complete US Year End reporting as required by Corporate
Filing of all payroll records
Keeping up to date on payroll legislation
Assisting in documentation for tax returns
Monitor employee transfer movements, identify potential tax issues and resolve them.
Maintain Africa Staffing tracker identifying individuals who trigger a SA or another African
tax liability, and liaising with employee home office to ensure tax records are accurate in
all jurisdictions.
Job specification
Review monthly Discovery Insurance and benefit charges for accurate monthly payroll
reporting and re-charges
Annual Employee returns
Provisional Employee returns
Prepare Monthly Insurance journals for Health and Life Insurance.
Maintain Employee personal re-charge reconciliation prior to monthly payroll, preparing
personal recharge schedule for processing.
Responding to employee requests for information regarding payroll procedures Salary and
bonus calculations, staff recoverable, contributions, withholdings etc.).
Tax
Assist Team Leader with annual corporate tax filings for all the entities
Assist Finance Team Leader with tax research and payroll regulations of other African
countries.
Quarterly tax reporting to Global Tax team
Withholding tax (“WHT”) certificate management
Africa mobility management
Monthly VAT & WHT calculations and reporting
Assist Global TP team with compliance in various African countries
Assist KPMG with individual tax filing and management of associated employee tax loans
Analysis
Prepare monthly payroll variance analysis reporting
Monthly review of Amex statements and spending history
General
Assist Finance Team Leader and Controller with ad hoc projects
Identify and implement improvements to current payroll processes
Manage full American Express card process – from application through to final analysis of
employee spend.

Qualifications:
Essential
Previous SA payroll experience is essential (Preferably strong VIP payroll experience)
Bcom Accounting / Tax degree or similar related qualification
Three years relevant experience
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
Desired
US Reporting
An interest in Finance and its contribution to the business
