Exciting opportunity for a Project Developer in Cape Town, South Africa to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Project Developer you will be responsible for identifying and securing new project opportunities in the region, establishing the project structure, bringing the projects to financial close and start of construction. 
Main responsibilities

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the region’s power markets and opportunities for both utility-scale wind and solar PV projects in the markets, with a focus on Wind related project
  • Land acquisition and data analysis
  • Secure relevant Permits, Licenses and authorizations (PLAs)
  • Obtain PPA and/or other offtake arrangements
  • Identify Point of Connection (PoC) and conduct grid studies
  • Secure project equity and debt finance
  • Establish project governance mechanisms
  • Develop business case

Qualifications

  • Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Law or other relevant fields
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Power Purchase Agreements, grid connections, permitting requirements, bidding processes and Project Financial modelling
  • 5+ years relevant experience
  • 3+ years project development and contract negotiation
  • Previous experience in wind development and permitting, Financing and negotiating of Supply, EPC and O&M Agreements for wind projects.
  • Fuent in English, both written and spoken and an additional language beneficial
