A Well Established, Reputable and Long Standing Organization has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant, based in Durban involving effective Financial and Management Control of one or more entities within their group.

 Responsibilities

  • Effective Management of three Clerks within Finance.
  • Direct, Supervise, Review the work of Trade Creditors Clerks and Cash Book Clerks. Review and authorize all Trade Creditors Reconciliations.
  • Ensure that payment on Reconciliation balances to month/weekly/daily payments.
  • Ensuring all queries are dealt with effectively before Creditor’s Ledger closes and ensure all Cash Books are posted and Suspense Accounts balance.
  • Ensure Cash Book Clerks have checked all paper work. (Sample check for validity of Tax Invoices and paperwork).
  • Effective Month end Administration and Reconciliation of Accounts.
  • Reconcile all Balance Sheet Accounts, highlighting possible errors to Financial Manager. Process correcting entries and have reconciliations signed off before putting reconciliations on file.
  • Review provisional set of Management Accounts prepared for processing errors, large variances to budged and prior months.
  • Submission of Management Accounts to Group Accountant and Financial Manager with comments.
  • Respond to all queries from Operational/Regional Manager and Directors timeously.
  • Ensuring all intercompany transactions have been accounted for and the Loan Accounts Balance.
  • Check and escalate all capture issues experienced by Creditors Clerks and Cash Book Clerks.
  • Compilation of Year End Audit Files as well as dealing with Audit queries.
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset Register and Bank/Betting Cash Reconciliation’s.
  • Matching transactions on Bank Statement to Company Ledger.
  • VAT and SARS - Reconciliation of Vat including Turnover and Input Reasonableness checks monthly. Uploading and payment of all SARS Taxes and attending to all SARS queries.
  • Procurement (BEE) - Keep updated list of all BEE suppliers with total amount spent monthly. Prepare Audit File for BEE Audit and forward to the Compliance Officer every year.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • Bachelor Of Commerce /CIMA Degree with Articles
  • Pastel Evolution
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Advanced Excel, Internet and Email)

  • Exceptional Leadership / Management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure entailing exceptional planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Understanding new procedures for both current and future problem solving and decision making.
  • Willing to work extended hours.
