Employer: The Federated Employers Mutual Assurance Company (RF) (Pty) Ltd

Applications are invited for a Claims Accounts Authoriser in Head Office, based in Rosebank reporting to the Head Office Claims Manager. The overall objective of the position is to investigate, analyse, and accurately authorise claims payments in terms of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.

The main objective of the position will be to investigate, analyse and accurately authorise medical claims payments by:

  • Assessing and authorising medical / hospital and service provider’s accounts;
  • Assessing and authorising of permanent disability awards;
  • Participating in discussion about medical impairment assessments;
  • Authorising wages (includes Permanent Disabilities and Temporary Total Disabilities);
  • Authorising of bank details;
  • Monitor financial performance which includes cost containment, over servicing, duplicate payments and refunds;
  • Authorising name changes as requested by the branch

Candidate Requirements

Minimum requirements for the position are:

  • Matric with good functional literacy;
  • A formal medical or nursing qualification or training – ICU, Theatre technique,
  • Occupational Nursing or Orthopedic Nurse would be ideal;
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in nursing, healthcare or similar environment;
  • 2 to 3 years ICU or Theatre Technique Nurse experience;
  • Experience in auditing of medical accounts;
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body;
  • Good organisational, decision-making and analytical abilities coupled with the ability to work independently;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Good literacy and numerical ability;
  • Excellent performance track record are pre-requisites for the position;
  • Excellent customer focus, the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment, quality orientation, reliability and excellent communication abilities complete our requirements.
