Employer: Rheinmetall Denel Munition

·         Work with functional leaders to increase productivity, reduce operating costs, maximise efficiency and manage human capital more effectively.

·         Ensure process and production improvements through detailed analysis and best practice recommendations.

·         Design and implement new production processes for new products that are introduced at Boskop.

·         Assist completion of all developmental projects (i.e. projects from PD & PM) to develop the process.

·         Communicate, sustain and facilitate the implementation of lean thinking and principles as well as train and coach production teams in lean tools.

·         Assist in capacity studies of new production line requirements with recommendation to implementation of most efficient processes

·         Act as a change agent (leader and facilitator) to instil a problem solving and Continuous Improvement culture on site. Develop viable strategies to optimise processes and methods and take accountability for long term sustainability of CI within the company.

Candidate Requirements

·         Minimum of B-Tech/BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering.

·         Desirably 5+ years of professional experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.

·         Knowledge of Process Development and implementation in Manufacturing is desirable.

·         Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and achieve targets

·         Excellent problem solving skills with ability to demonstrate judgement and initiative.

·         Analytical thinker with good reasoning skills.

·         Ability to work precisely and methodically with minimum supervision.

·         Knowledge of SAP is an added advantage

·         Computer Literacy (MS Office, CAD - Solid Edge desirable)


Skills and competency:


·         Manufacturing process and product support (continuous manufacturing)

·         Be able to apply maths, engineering graphics design (CAD) and computing knowledge

·         Attention to detail

·         Knowledge of general safety procedures

·         Ability to meet production requirements as specified

·         Trouble Shooting Ability

·         Strong Conceptualisation Skills

·         Lean manufacturing

·         PFMEA
