A growing Investment Administrator is looking for a Retirement & Life Operations Team Leader to join their team!

Job description:

The role requires a passion for excellent client service delivery as well as a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
The primary responsibility will be to lead and manage a specific team's total operational capabilities, embedding processes and controls within the operational areas to ensure mitigation of identified risks and the delivery of exceptional client service. The business is responsible for processing investments into retirement fund products, including living annuities, endowments, retirement annuities, preservation funds discretionary products etc.
The successful candidate will manage a team of administrators who execute the processing and reporting of investor instructions based on client specific service level agreements. The individual will be required to manage staff, including performance management, assisting with issues coming out of the daily operations, review of staff work and ensuring processes are followed and standards are adhered to.

Job Responsibilities:

* Oversee the day to day operations, ensuring that the team adheres to the clients' current Service Level Agreement and to add value to clients by continually trying to improve the services provided
* Ensure that the team performs according to contracted performance areas to deliver the highest level of service to stakeholders
* Plan, assign & monitor work of the team members
* Continuously evaluate and improve processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency
* Pro-actively identify and manage operational risks
* Investigate and resolve client and internal queries efficiently and on a timely basis
* Regularly engage, interact with and report to management and the clients;
* Liaise with internal and external auditors
* Ensure tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met
* Identify ways of promoting accuracy and maximizing productivity within the team
* Assist with the implementation of changes to existing products and processes as well as new products
* Maintain high levels of teamwork within the team, different departments and external parties in order to resolve client queries
* Respond in a professional, timely and empathetic manner to both written and telephonic enquiries from internal and external clients
* Ensure Beginning-of-Day and End-of-Day processes are completed
* Balance own priorities while directing and motivating others
* Manage, develop and perform succession planning of staff
* Adhoc and Monthly client reporting
* Day-to-day management of team deliveries
* Day-to-day team management
* Ongoing development of team members, including performance management
* On-the-job training of team members


* At least 5 years' experience in LISP (Discretionary and Life and Retirement Products) administration
* Knowledge of the applicable LISP and CIS legislative environment (specifically the FAIS Act, Pension Funds Act, Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, Long-Term Insurance Act)
* Strong operational knowledge of Retirement Products including Living Annuities, Endowments, Pension and Provident Preservation Funds, Retirement Funds, and Collective Investment Schemes
* A good working knowledge of processing investor transactions, commission structures, fund types, product rules, claims and transfers is essentia
* Relevant financial qualification would be to your advantage
* A minimum of 2 years' people management experience would be an advantage
* Proven leadership skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Keen attention to detail, passionate about exceptional client services
* Proactive with a sense of urgency and the ability to make quick decisions and establish priorities
* Professional, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to simplify complex problems and processes and be outcomes driven
* Self-motivated, learns quickly and willing to be stretched in a challenging, dynamic and exciting environment
