A private Education Organisation is seeking to employ a Lecturer at their Campus in Bloemfontein. The successful incumbent must meet the minimal requirements set out in the advert and must be able to start immediately.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Academic Development

  • Design of relevant academic programmes;
  • Development of curriculum for programmes;
  • Aligning specifications of programmes;
  • Development of programme’s associated policies;
  • Submissions for regulatory approval of relevant programmes (including HEQC and DOE).
  • Attend and contribute to relevant quality committees including the specific Programme committee;
  • Development of relevant programme budgets to ensure cost effectiveness and profitability.
  • Lectures.

 Academic Leadership

  • Participation in the monitoring, evaluation and development of academic programmes
  • Conduct Research
  • Liaison with academic colleagues and relevant people in commerce and industry to ensure ongoing development and relevant academic programmes
  • Direct participation in teaching, learning and research activities.

Student Records and Academic Monitoring

  • Participation in student registration process
  • Approval of credits and exemptions
  • Academic monitoring (including attendance) and maintenance of student records in consultation with the faculty administrative staff
  • Setting of tests and examinations
  • Marking / moderation of tests and examination papers as requested by the Faculty Head
  • Participation in Examination Certification and Promotion of learners.

 Any other responsibilities as reasonably delegated by a member of senior management.

Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelors Degree, Honours Degree advantageous
  • Relevant lecturing experience
  • Necessary knowledge of FET /HET practices and processes, as appropriate
  • Management and Teaching in a tertiary environment;
  • Strategic ability appropriate to private higher education in South Africa;
  • In-depth knowledge of and / or commitment to Quality Assurance
